Climate Programme
This Wellcome-funded research programme was established in 2022. Its aims are:

to better characterise the mechanistic relationship between environment, climate and disease transmission
-
to assess implications of long-term climate change for disease burden, range and routine vaccination
-
to optimise control programmes to respond to seasonal variation in disease burden and the consequences of increasingly frequent extreme climate events.
The research programme currently involves modellers for five climate-sensitive infections: cholera, dengue, malaria, meningitis, and yellow fever. We are also setting up collaborations with key partners based in countries where these diseases are prevalent. As of 2024, these partners include:
